This week is full of things to get excited about, from mouthwatering new dining spots to the return of one of our county’s biggest annual traditions, the North Texas Fair and Rodeo. You’ll also find fresh community highlights and a calendar packed with events that will keep your weekend lively and memorable.

We’re working to grow and improve What’s Good Denton, and we’ll soon be offering annual sponsorship and partnership opportunities to help fund new features and community-focused content. Denton County is expanding with some exciting new businesses! Here are a few upcoming spots you won’t want to miss:

• 🦐 Supreme Boil: This Cajun seafood spot from the owners of Supreme Crab in Denton brings fresh seafood boils with customizable proteins to Flower Mound, currently open with a limited menu and planning a grand opening by early September.

• 💇‍♀️ Drybar: The popular blowout-only salon has opened its first Highland Village location at The Shops, featuring ten stylist stations and specializing exclusively in professional blowouts and styling services.

• 🥩 Primal Steakhouse: Las Vegas's top-rated steakhouse is preparing to open its first Texas location in The Colony, bringing elevated dining with premium steaks, lamb chops, and Chilean seabass to North Texas later this year.

🎪 North Texas Fair & Rodeo Returns!

The North Texas Fair & Rodeo returns August 15 through 24, 2025, bringing ten nights of thrilling rodeo competitions, live country music performances, and carnival rides that delight visitors of all ages. Wander through livestock exhibitions featuring everything from prize-winning cattle to colorful poultry, then grab a bite in the food alley where classic funnel cakes and corn dogs sit alongside new chef-driven creations and local vendor offerings. There’s plenty of interactive fun with midway games, face painting, and petting zoos, while music lovers can catch performances by regional country stars on the main stage. Proceeds from this event support youth agricultural programs, FFA initiatives, and community reinvestment projects!

📍 Community Updates:

• 🏫 Argyle ISD Largest Enrollment in History: Argyle ISD began the 2025 school year with the highest student enrollment the district has ever recorded. The milestone reflects both steady community growth and strong trust in the district’s educational quality. Leaders say the expansion underscores the need for continued investment in facilities, teachers, and resources.

• 🎨 Flower Mound Library Student Mural Ribbon Cutting: The Flower Mound Public Library hosted a ribbon cutting to unveil vibrant murals created by local students. This project highlights the artistic talent of area youth while fostering civic pride. The murals were made possible through partnerships that connect education, creativity, and community engagement.
